This reading test course is designed to improve your reading skills through in-depth reading and summary writing. There are five reading texts on a range of subjects with comprehension questions (open answer questions, gap fill, table completion and multiple choice) to check your understanding, summary note-taking and summary writing. This course will give you authentic university reading practice.
Summary Writing Tutorials: What are summary writing tutorials? Once you have written your summary, you send it to us to check. We will provide valuable feedback on your writing in terms of task, grammar, vocabulary, cohesion and coherence. There is a email form at the end of each lesson where you copy and paste your summary to send to us. We return your work within 1-2 days with tutor comments and advice.

An example of a reading test booklet
There are five lessons included in this course with each lesson taking approximately 2 hours to complete. You have to do the course in order of each lecture 1-5. When you complete the course, you will receive a certificate.
Duration: This course lasts for 60 days once you pay. Therefore, you have 60 days to the complete all 5 lessons.
Course Content
The course consists of ten lessons. Each lesson includes a digital lesson booklet to download.
The Lesson Procedure
Each lesson has the same number of tasks and format. This is an example from the Air Pollution lesson:
Task 1: Introduction | There will be four or five questions to introduce you to the topic. Task 1: Introduction Do some research and take some notes on the following questions: |
Task 2: Reading | Task 2: Reading text Read the 800-word text and check any unknown vocabulary |
Task 3: Comp Questions | In this section, you are give a range of different question types to answer about the text (T/F/NG, multiple choice, multiple matching, open answers, summaries, table completion, stance and opinion) Task 3: Task 3: Comprehension Questions Now see if you can answer these comprehension questions |
Task 4: Summary Notes | The next section is preparation for summary writing. You should know the text very well by now after completing the comprehension questions. So, this task is to take notes on the main ideas. Task 4: Summary Writing Take notes on the key points of the text using this outline |
Task 5: The Summary | After you have taken notes on the text, you use these notes to write a summary Task 5: Summary Writing Using your notes write a 200-250-word summary of the text. |
Task 6: Writing Tutorial | Task 6: Summary Writing Tutorial Copy and paste your summary into this form and submit Summary Feedback and Return Your summary will be checked by academic tutors. We will look at task, grammar, vocabulary, cohesion and coherence. We will give you valuable feedback to improve your writing skills quickly. It will take approximately 1-2 days to return the summary back to you. Don’t use AI / translation software to write your summary. Please write it by yourself so we can help improve your writing. |
